Security System

  • Peripheral Security System : The security system deployed and installed to cover the approaches to a building/premises such as boundary wall, gates, watch tower, wire fencing and security lights form part of peripheral security system.
  • Communication System : Communication system for passing on information regarding security system situation by guards to all stakeholders a communication system is needed.

Security personnel are the human element of the integrated security system. They carry out security operations, operate security system and respond to security situation.

Physical Security – Peripherals

Peripheral security infrastructure relates to security wall,  wire fencing, watch tower, gate, guard cabin and security lights. These are part of integrated security system adding strength to overall security of any industry, corporate, residential, Institution and others.

Goals of Physical Security

  • Prevent unauthorized access to equipment, documents, material and installations.
  • Safeguard against espionage, sabotage, damage and theft.
  • Safeguard personnel.

Perimeter Protection

  • Standoff distance : The maintained distance between where a vehicle bomb is allowed and the target called standoff distance.
  • Exclusive Standoff Zone : Vehicles are not allowed within perimeter unless they have been cleared and searched.
  • Nonexclusive Standoff Zone : Established when a facility or location permits a mixture of cars and trucks. Includes inner and outer perimeters.
  • Lighting : The discourage or deter attempts at entry by intruders. Prevent glare that may temporarily blind the security guards. Different types : Continuous, standby, movable. Different applications : Entrances, Parking areas, Critical areas.

 Physical Access Control 

  • Locks : Preset Locks and Keys.
  • Typical door looks : Programmable Locks. 
  • Mechanical (Cipher Locks) 
  • Electronic (Keypad Systems) : Digital Keyboard Number of Digits in Code, Number of Combinations, Frequency of Code Change. 
  • Cards : Photo-ID cards, Magnetic Strip cards, Smart Cards Wireless & Proximity readers.
  • Often Require Use of PIN Number with Card. 
  • Readers : Card Insertion, Card Swipe & Proximity.

Important Provisions of the Rules Verification of Character and Antecedent : Character and antecedent of all security guards and supervisors will be verified from police before their appointment. Security Training :  All security guards and supervisors will undergo 20-days security training totaling 160 hours on prescribed subject as per NOS. Physical Fitness : All security guards should meet the criteria of physical fitness as given below :- Height – men 160cms and women 150cms.   Eye sight – far sight vision 6/6 and near sight vision 0.6/0.6 Good hearing.   Free from knock-knees and flat foot.   Should have good overall health.   Should not have any contagious disease.
