Types of Security Escorts

An unarmed or armed  security guard trained in escort duties can be  employed as a security escort. Security escorts operate  individually or in pairs or in a team comprising of  armed and unarmed guards. The composition of escort  entirely depends upon the nature of risks and threats  to the person or group that is being escorted.

Depending upon the threat perception the following duties may be assigned to security escorts :  

  • To escort a person.  
  • To escort a group.  
  • To act as vehicle escort.  
  • To escort valuable..

The Level and Type of Security Escort  : The level and number of security escorts needed for a particular task will depend on the type of threat, importance of person / group and the local area's current law and order condition. These factors will also decide whether the escorts should be unarmed or also armed. 

Risks and Threats : as a security escort be prepared  to face certain risks and emergencies due to human  errors or mechanical failure during the discharge of  escort duties :-

  • Vehicle accident.  
  • Breakdown due to mechanical failure.  Fire incident.  
  • Actions by miscreants.  

A security escort's presence of mind, alertness and  quick response to such situations will mitigate such  risks to a large extent.

CORRECT POSTURES

 A correct Posture is defined as : A frame of mind affecting one’s thoughts or behavior and an overall attitude : thus implying that if a security guard’s posture is correct, his behavior is correct, his overall attitude is correct. It is therefore important that a Security Guard practices to maintain a correct posture and good bearing. There are a number of illustrations shown in subsequent images, which give difference between correct and incorrect posture and body positions. “Practice Makes a Man Perfect”.
